Fact-check

Rumor Scanner’s investigation reveals that the photo being circulated does not pertain to any recent meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and any official over the alleged production of military uniforms in violation of Bangladeshi law. In reality, the image dates back to 2015 and shows Modi during a visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he met with the Emir of Qatar. The woman seen shaking hands with him in the image is Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, currently the UAE Minister of State.

Through reverse image search and by identifying the logo visible in the photograph, investigators found a matching video titled “محمد بن راشد يستقبل رئيس وزراء الهند – Mohammed bin Rashid receives Prime Minister of India” published on August 18, 2015, on the verified YouTube channel of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Prime Minister and Vice President. The image used in the claim is an exact frame from this video.

According to the video's description, on August 18, 2015, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his delegation at his palace in Zabeel. The reception was attended by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed praised the longstanding friendship and historical cooperation between the two nations and their people.

Supporting information is also found in a report published on NDTV’s website on August 18, 2015, titled “India-UAE to Set Multi-Billion Dollar Fund for Indian Infrastructure.” The same photo and context are confirmed in that report. At the time, multiple international and Indian media outlets carried consistent reports regarding the meeting. It is confirmed that the woman in the photo is Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, who continues to serve as a minister of state in the UAE.

Therefore, the image from Prime Minister Modi’s 2015 UAE visit, which involved a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, is being falsely shared as a recent meeting concerning the alleged illegal production of military uniforms in Bangladesh. The claim is false.
