On May 28, a Facebook page named 'Amar Desh' posted an image with the caption: “Finally, 57 Indian nationals employed at the Secretariat have been identified!!”
Fact-check
Boom Bangladesh has verified that this claim is false. There is no corroborating information from any news outlet or official government source regarding the claim. A keyword search yielded no reports in any mainstream media outlet that support this allegation. Despite the post being shared under the logo and name of the national daily newspaper Amar Desh, a keyword search did not locate the post on the verified Facebook page of 'Daily Amar Desh'. Furthermore, no related reports were found on the newspaper's official website. Search results indicate that a fake page was created under the name of ‘Dainik Amar Desh’ to disseminate the claim. Additionally, a keyword search on the Ministry of Public Administration’s official website revealed no information supporting the viral claim.
Boom Bangladesh contacted the Ministry of Public Administration for clarification. A senior official from the ministry, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed to Boom Bangladesh that the information is fake. In conclusion, no evidence has been found from media or official government sources to substantiate the claim. Therefore, the assertion that Indian nationals have been identified at the Secretariat is a misleading narrative being spread on Facebook.
