A video circulating on Facebook, composed of several still images of aid being dispatched under the supervision of the Bangladesh Army, claims that 200 tons of food are being sent to Palestine by the Bangladesh military. However, an investigation by FactWatch reveals that the aid in question was actually dispatched to Myanmar following a recent earthquake as part of a government-supported relief initiative. The images used in the video date back to that event.

A review of the Bangladesh Army’s official Facebook page confirms that the relief operation was in response to the earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025. In the images, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman is seen overseeing the aid dispatch. A post-dated March 30 features twelve still photos detailing the support operation. These same photos were later used to produce the misleading video shared on Facebook, falsely claiming aid to Palestine.

Posts made between March 30 and April 9 on the Army’s official Facebook page document various phases of the relief mission to Myanmar, specifically aimed at assisting those affected by the earthquake.

A keyword search on YouTube also leads to a video report published by Kalbela, which references the same set of images shared by the Army. The report states that under the direction of the Honourable Principal Advisor, a Bangladesh Armed Forces-led emergency mission, including medical and rescue teams, was initiated to deliver tents, dry food, medicines, and healthcare services to Myanmar. Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force were reportedly present during the final preparations of the relief team.

In contrast, a search using relevant keywords found no recent reports of any aid initiative by Bangladesh toward Palestine. The most recent account found dates back to 2023. According to a Voice of America report, Bangladesh delivered symbolic humanitarian aid to Palestine, which was accepted by the Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yusuf S.Y. Ramadan, at an event held at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy.

There have been no recent announcements from either the Government of Bangladesh or the Bangladesh Army regarding any new aid operations for Palestine, despite the worsening war situation in Gaza.

Notably, various misleading claims have recently emerged across Facebook in Bangladesh following the escalation of violence in Gaza.

Therefore, the Facebook posts asserting that "the Bangladesh Army has departed for Palestine with 200 tons of food" are identified as false.
