A video has recently been circulated online with the caption, “If the number of martyrs is truly 3 million, then every village in Bangladesh should have 50 to 60 martyrs. In reality, some villages don’t even have five freedom fighters. These fabricated tales can no longer continue in this country,” claiming to show a police officer questioning the official number of martyrs in the Liberation War.

Rumor Scanner Team's investigation has found that the video, purportedly showing a police officer making this statement, is not genuine. Rather, it is a fabricated video created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

No credible media outlet or reliable source has reported the existence of such a video. In reality, if any police officer had made such a statement questioning the number of martyrs in the Liberation War, it would have been widely covered in mainstream media.

Moreover, upon analyzing the video, irregularities can be observed in both the voice and surrounding environment, which are commonly found in AI-generated content. Additionally, the banner displayed behind the speaker at the press conference contains Bangla words that do not make coherent sense. The media boom mics in front of the speaker feature names of news outlets whose logos do not match those used by the actual media organizations.

To verify further, Rumor Scanner examined the video using a content detection tool for AI-generated materials called ‘Deepfake-O-Meter,’ specifically its ‘AVSRDD (2025)’ model. The analysis revealed an 86.9% probability that the video was created using AI.

The video in question is 16 seconds long. It is suspected that the video was produced using Google’s advanced AI tool Veo, which can generate highly realistic videos up to 8 seconds in duration. Two separate AI-generated clips were likely combined to create the 16-second video used to support the misleading claim.

Therefore, the video disseminated as a police officer's statement on the disputed number of martyrs in the Liberation War is actually AI-generated and false.
